Rural Telecoms Offer Extensive Broadband Services

  • Like electricity and telephone service, reliable high-speed broadband has become an essential part of daily life. Broadband access is critical to commerce, civic participation, health care and education - especially throughout rural Colorado, where distances can make such connections more difficult.

  • Right now, rural telecommunications companies offer their customers - including businesses, community anchors institutions and residences'a variety of services from basic telephone lines to high-speed, fiber-optic broadband and cable television.

  • Colorado's rural telecoms currently operate nearly 3,000 miles of fiber optics in Colorado and continue to add hundreds of miles of fiber optics to the state's broadband infrastructure to ensure that farming and ranching communities across Colorado continue to receive modern broadband services.

  • Several rural telecoms are utilizing U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service loans to expand their fiber optic networks and improve broadband service for their customers and communities.

  • Rural telecoms in eastern Colorado collaborated in a partnership to build a fiber ring to connect the Eastern Plains with the Denver metro area.
